SriLankan Airlines Flight Searched in Colombo After Indian Security Alert; No Threat Found
May 3, 2025: A SriLankan Airlines flight from Chennai was subjected to an intensive security inspection upon arrival in Colombo on Friday, May 3, after Indian authorities issued an alert about a wanted suspect possibly on board.
According to an official statement from the airline, Flight UL 122, operated by aircraft 4R-ALS, landed at Bandaranaike International Airport at 11:59 a.m. and was immediately met with coordinated security checks by local authorities. The search followed a tip-off from the Chennai Area Control Centre, which reported a potential security threat involving a suspect wanted in India.
While the search did not uncover any threats or suspects, the precautionary measures caused a delay in the airline’s outbound service, Flight UL 308 to Singapore.
SriLankan Airlines reassured passengers that their safety remains its utmost priority. “We strive to ensure that the highest standards of safety are consistently maintained,” the statement emphasized.
