Steve Smith Bids Farewell To ODI Cricket After 170 Matches

March 5, 2025: Australian cricket star Steve Smith has announced his retirement from One-Day International (ODI) cricket following Australia’s four-wicket loss to India in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. Smith, 35, made the decision after a distinguished career spanning 170 ODIs, marking the end of a remarkable journey in the 50-over format.

While stepping away from ODIs, Smith remains committed to representing Australia in Test cricket and T20Is, with a focus on contributing to the team’s success in these formats. His potential involvement in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where cricket will feature in the form of T20Is, could also influence his decision to continue playing the shortest format.
