Suresh Raina Urges People To Cast Their Votes In Upcoming J&K Assembly Elections
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has voiced his support for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, encouraging active participation from both the youth and senior citizens in the electoral process.
He stated, “Best wishes from my side. Every youth and senior of J&K should go and vote for the political party they support,” highlighting the crucial role of voting in a democratic setup.
As Jammu and Kashmir prepares for the Assembly polls, Raina’s call for voter participation underscores the importance of these elections in shaping the region’s future.
In advance of the first phase of polling, officials have conducted mock polls at various booths across the Union Territory, including in Banihal, Kishtwar, and Jagti Assembly constituencies.
The first phase will see 24 Assembly constituencies go to the polls, comprising 16 seats in the Kashmir region and 8 in the Jammu region. A total of 486 candidates filed nomination papers for 40 Assembly constituencies, with 415 candidates remaining after the scrutiny and withdrawal period.
This election marks the first Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, making it a significant event for the region’s political landscape.
