Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale finished seventh in the qualification round of the men’s 50m 3P event, securing his spot in the final at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Wednesday. Kusale scored 590-38x on his Olympic debut, demonstrating remarkable skill and precision.
Kusale, along with fellow Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, competed in the men’s 50m 3P qualification round. Tomar ranked 11th with a score of 589-33x, narrowly missing out on the final, as only the top eight shooters advance.
The People’s Republic of China’s Liu Yukun set a new Olympic qualification record with a total score of 594-38x, showcasing the high level of competition.
The final event is scheduled for Thursday at 1 PM IST, where India will hope to secure their third medal of the Paris Olympics. This follows the success of Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, who won bronze in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event.
Earlier in the Games, Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals in a single Olympics, including a bronze in the women’s individual 10m Air Pistol event. Bhaker’s performance has been a highlight of the Indian shooting contingent, as she overcame the disappointment of a malfunction at the Tokyo Olympics.
With Kusale’s qualification, India’s shooting hopes remain high as they continue to make strides on the global stage.
