IED, radio sets found days after Pahalgam massacre; Pakistan resumes LoC firing as ceasefire violations stretch into 11th day.
May 5, 2025 | Srinagar:
Security forces have busted a terrorist hideout in Poonch’s Surankot area, uncovering an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radio sets, and three blankets, in a major breakthrough amid heightened tension following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians on April 22.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police, who launched a combing operation in the region on Sunday evening. A thorough search is still underway to trace possible terrorist movement in the area.
🔥 Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan
Shortly after the hideout was discovered, Pakistani troops resumed unprovoked firing across multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of May 4–5.
“Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. Indian Army responded promptly and proportionately,” the Indian Army said in a statement.
This marks the 11th consecutive day of ceasefire violations by Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror strike, which Indian authorities have linked to cross-border terror networks.
🚨 Aftermath of Pahalgam Massacre
The April 22 massacre in Pahalgam, considered the deadliest terror attack in J&K since Article 370 was abrogated, has significantly escalated India-Pakistan hostilities:
- All Pakistani visas have been revoked by the Indian government.
- Pakistani nationals in India have been asked to leave immediately.
- India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, cutting off water flows from the Baglihar and Kishanganga dams.
- Diplomatic ties between the two nations have been downgraded.
Despite mounting evidence and intelligence linking the attack to a Pakistan-based terror group, Islamabad has denied involvement, calling for an international probe into the incident.
