Thailand to Launch e-Visa System for Indian Applicants from January 2025

New Delhi, December 11: The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi has announced the official rollout of Thailand’s Electronic Visa (e-Visa) system for Indian applicants, effective January 1, 2025. This initiative aims to simplify the visa application process while providing added convenience through features like an offline payment option.

Key Features of the e-Visa System

The e-Visa platform will cater to non-Thai nationals applying for all visa categories. Applicants are required to submit their visa applications exclusively through the official website, thaievisa.go.th.

• Application Process: Individuals or their representatives can apply online. However, the Embassy cautions that it will not be responsible for incomplete applications submitted by representatives.
• Fees: Visa fees, which are non-refundable, must be paid online or via the offline payment option. Details on fee structures will be provided by the Embassy and Consulate-Generals.
• Processing Time: Applications will take approximately 14 working days from the issuance of the visa receipt to be processed.

Transition Timeline

The Embassy has outlined a phased transition to the e-Visa platform:

• Ordinary Passport Holders: Visa applications through designated processing agencies will be accepted until December 16, 2024.
• Diplomatic and Official Passport Holders: Applications will be accepted at the Embassy or Consulate-Generals until December 24, 2024.

The existing 60-day visa exemption for Indian travellers with ordinary passports, applicable for tourism and short business trips, will remain effective until further notice.
