“The Challenge of International Cricket is Adapting” – Michael Bracewell on New Zealand’s Clash with India

Kiwi All-Rounder Stresses the Need for Flexibility as New Zealand Gears Up for Champions Trophy Battle in Dubai

Dubai, February 28: New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell has emphasized the importance of adaptability as the Black Caps prepare to face India in a crucial ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash on Sunday in Dubai. With wickets expected to assist spinners, Bracewell highlighted the need to adjust quickly to conditions.

“The wickets here have looked like they’ve taken a bit of spin. We have our first training session today, so it’ll be good to get used to the wickets as quickly as we can,” Bracewell told reporters.

New Zealand’s Strength Lies in Adaptability

Bracewell acknowledged that one of the biggest challenges in international cricket is performing under diverse conditions across the world.

“That’s the challenge of international cricket—playing in different venues in different parts of the world and trying to adjust as quickly as possible. We’ve enjoyed the pitches in Pakistan, and I think we have a well-balanced side that can play in any condition.”

He further emphasized New Zealand’s ability to tailor their game plan based on the playing surface, giving them a tactical advantage.

“The strength of our side has been our ability to adjust to the surface and really throw different looks at teams that are suited to that surface. Hopefully, we continue to do that as a side.”

Looking Back at Pakistan & Ahead to India

Reflecting on their successful matches in Pakistan, Bracewell expressed his appreciation for playing there, adding that the team is eager for another strong performance in Dubai.

“We’ve really enjoyed our time in Pakistan, and we are looking forward to going back. It’s been a happy hunting ground for us. We’re excited to be here, but we also thoroughly enjoyed our time in Pakistan as well.”

New Zealand Eyes Third Consecutive Win

The Kiwis have won both of their matches in the ICC Champions Trophy so far, and they will now look to extend their winning run by defeating India in Dubai. Given their ability to adjust to different conditions, New Zealand will be a formidable challenge for the Indian side.
