Agartala (Tripura) [India]: At the traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav’s concluding ceremony on Sunday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled a number of plans to help Neermahal become a well-known international tourism destination.
Saha revealed that the state government is actively working on enhancing Neermahal’s appeal to international tourists, including ongoing renovations to the palace’s interior.
Neermahal, often hailed as an enchanting tourist attraction in the state, has long-held cultural and historical significance. The government’s commitment to showcasing Neermahal on the global tourism map is set to breathe new life into this iconic landmark.
During the closing ceremony, Chief Minister Manik Saha inaugurated a long-distance swimming competition and a boating competition, adding excitement and adventure to the Neermahal Jal Utsav. A vibrant cultural program was also organised to mark the occasion, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav, a three-day extravaganza, commenced on October 6 and drew visitors from far and wide. It featured a variety of events, showcasing the beauty and historical significance of Neermahal.
Saha, visibly excited about his first-time experience of boating in the Rudra Sagar, emphasised how the addition of long-distance swimming and boating competitions added an extra dimension to the festival. He expressed the government’s commitment to further enhancing the appeal of the Neermahal Jal Utsav in the upcoming years.
“The government will continue its efforts to showcase Neermahal’s significance during the royal period on the global tourism map,” Saha affirmed.
The closing ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including MLAs Toffajal Hossain and Kishor Barman, as well as Sepahijala District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, among others.
The collective commitment to preserving and promoting the heritage of Neermahal ensures that this majestic palace will continue to captivate tourists and history enthusiasts from around the world.
