Trump to Address Nation After “Historic” US Strikes on Iran's Nuclear Sites
Washington DC, June 22: In a dramatic escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed successful airstrikes on Iran’s three key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, and announced he will deliver a prime-time national address at 10:00 PM (7:30 AM IST, Sunday) from the White House. Declaring the operation a “historic moment” for America, Israel, and the world, Trump urged Iran to “end this war” following the first direct U.S. military intervention in the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Taking to Truth Social late Saturday, Trump wrote:
“I will be giving an Address to the Nation at 10:00 P.M., at the White House, regarding our very successful military operation in Iran. This is an HISTORIC MOMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ISRAEL, AND THE WORLD. IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR. THANK YOU!”
The announcement follows Trump’s earlier post confirming that U.S. forces had struck Iran’s three primary nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan—with a full payload of bombs, with Fordow as the central target.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home,” Trump wrote, praising American forces as unmatched globally.
“Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”
Targeted Nuclear Sites:
The three sites hit in the operation represent the core of Iran’s nuclear capabilities:
According to the New York Times, Fordow and Natanz are central to Iran’s uranium enrichment, while Isfahan poses significant concerns for weapons-grade material storage.
Role of US Stealth Bombers:
Though unconfirmed officially, CNN reported that U.S. B-2 stealth bombers departed Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on Friday night and were tracked flying westward across the Pacific Ocean, possibly toward Guam. These bombers are the only aircraft capable of carrying the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP)—a 30,000-pound “bunker buster” specifically designed to destroy fortified underground targets like Fordow.
Backdrop of Escalation:
The U.S. intervention comes nine days into the Israel-Iran conflict, which began on June 13 with Operation Rising Lion, a massive Israeli strike targeting Iranian nuclear and military facilities. In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched “Operation True Promise 3,” targeting Israeli fuel depots and energy centers with a large-scale drone and missile offensive.
The decision for direct American military action significantly broadens the scope of the conflict and raises concerns of a wider regional war.
What to Expect:
Trump’s 10:00 PM address is expected to provide further details on the strike’s objectives, potential diplomatic consequences, and whether further military escalation is on the table. With bipartisan voices in Washington already demanding Congressional authorization for sustained combat, the coming hours could determine the next phase of U.S. involvement in the Middle East.
