Trump’s Approval Rating Hits New Low in Second Term: Reuters/Ipsos Poll
Washington, April 22, 2025 — US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 42%, marking its lowest point since his second term began in January, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll conducted this week. The decline highlights growing discomfort with Trump’s aggressive policy moves and attempts to expand executive power.
The previous poll three weeks ago showed Trump at 43%, and he stood at 47% just after his inauguration. However, Trump’s ratings remain higher than Joe Biden’s average throughout his presidency, the survey noted.
Since returning to the White House, Trump has pushed a flurry of controversial executive orders — many of which were blocked by federal courts. His administration has also taken a hardline stance on campus protests, university funding, and has pushed for increased control over cultural institutions.

While Trump has floated the idea of running for a third presidential term, it remains constitutionally barred. Nevertheless, a significant majority — across party lines — oppose any such move, according to the poll.
