
UAE Launches Preparations to Host 15th UN Crime Congress in 2026
May 19, 2025: The United Arab Emirates has officially begun preparations to host the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, scheduled to take place from April 25 to 30, 2026 in Abu Dhabi.
On Sunday, Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, the UAE’s Minister of Justice, chaired the first preparatory meeting of the Higher Committee tasked with overseeing the event. The congress will be held under the overarching theme: “Accelerating crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: protecting people and planet and achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the digital age.”

The international gathering is expected to draw around 3,000 participants, including high-level officials, ministers, representatives from both governmental and non-governmental organizations, and renowned experts in law and justice.
Key discussions at the congress will explore emerging challenges and innovations in crime prevention, criminal justice systems, and the rule of law, particularly in light of rapid digital transformation and global sustainable development goals.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Justice headquarters, Minister Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination and strategic partnerships within the UAE. He highlighted the nation’s commitment to ensuring seamless logistical, technical, and institutional readiness — aiming to showcase the UAE as a global leader in hosting impactful international events.
