UK Diaspora, Leaders Rally Outside Indian High Commission to Honour Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims
London [UK], April 25:
Hundreds gathered outside the Indian High Commission in London to pay tribute and express solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 innocent civilians were killed in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. Chanting slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, attendees carried Indian flags and posters demanding justice and action against terrorism.
Among the posters were strong statements such as “Hindu Lives Matter” and “Crush Jihadist Terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir to Jerusalem”, signaling not just grief but a demand for global action against radical violence.
Kuldeep Singh Shekhawat, President of Overseas Friends of BJP (UK), led the vigil and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take “the strongest possible action” against the perpetrators and their supporters.
“Innocent people who came to enjoy peace were gunned down. This is unacceptable. Pakistan must know India will respond powerfully,” Shekhawat told ANI.
An Israel supporter, speaking at the event, said, “We know what jihadist terror looks like—we have lived through it in Israel. India is not alone. Together, we will defeat terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir to Jerusalem.”
He also invited people to join the Israel India Friendship Club, calling the partnership “a shield against jihadist violence.”
A separate commemorative ceremony was held at India House in London, led by India’s High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami. UK dignitaries including Minister Catherine West, MPs Bob Blackman and Kanishka Narayan, and members of the House of Lords stood alongside India’s Union Minister L Murugan and Maharashtra’s Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat in mourning.
In his address, Doraiswami emphasized the importance of unity, justice, and resilience. A minute of silence was observed for the victims, and speakers asserted a shared global resolve to eliminate terrorism.
According to an official statement, the ceremony reinforced growing India-UK cooperation and highlighted the global consensus against terrorism. Dignitaries vowed that every terrorist, handler, and backer involved in the Pahalgam massacre would be brought to justice.
The April 22 attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam is one of the deadliest since the Pulwama attack of 2019, which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. In response, India has announced a series of diplomatic and security countermeasures, including actions against Pakistan’s diplomatic presence and travel arrangements.
As the world rallies behind India, the call for decisive global action against terrorism grows louder—from the streets of London to the halls of power.
