CM Yogi directs February pay release on Feb 28; Saturday declared working day
February 27, 2026: Ahead of Holi celebrations, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced early disbursal of February salaries for lakhs of employees. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that payments are credited before the festival, easing financial pressure during the festive season. The move covers regular, contractual, outsourcing and sanitation workers, with strict instructions that no eligible employee be left out.
Under the directive, salaries will be released on February 28, 2026, which has been declared a working day to facilitate smooth processing. Authorities have been told to complete all formalities in advance, given the upcoming holidays around Holika Dahan and Holi. The Office of the Director of School Education issued specific instructions to ensure timely payment to teachers and education department staff.
The Finance Department approved the early disbursement plan, noting that routine scheduling would have clashed with public holidays. The proposal received clearance from Governor Anandiben Patel. District officials have been instructed to ensure funds are credited without delay, a decision widely welcomed by government employees across the state.
