
US May End Work Permits for International Students: Indian Students Face Uncertain Future
January 3, 2025: The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, a critical pathway for international students, including a significant number of Indian graduates, to gain work experience in the United States, is under scrutiny. The program, which allows foreign students on F-1 visas to work in the US for up to three years after completing a STEM degree, is being criticised for allegedly bypassing traditional immigration channels and creating competition for local American graduates.
