Washington DC [US], December 30: US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden have expressed their heartfelt condolences following the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter, hailing him as an extraordinary leader, statesman, and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the service of others.
In an official statement released by the White House, the Bidens reflected on Carter’s unwavering commitment to global peace, civil rights, and humanitarian causes.
“With his compassion and moral clarity, he worked to eradicate disease, forge peace, advance civil rights and human rights, promote free and fair elections, house the homeless, and always advocate for the least among us. He saved, lifted, and changed the lives of people all across the globe,” the statement read.
The Bidens also extended gratitude to the Carter family and acknowledged the legacy left behind by his decades of service: “To the entire Carter family, we send our gratitude for sharing them with America and the world. To their staff – from the earliest days to the final ones – we have no doubt that you will continue to do the good works that carry on their legacy.”

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away at the age of 100 at his home in Plains, Georgia. His son, James E. Carter III, confirmed the news.
In February 2023, the Carter Center announced that after multiple hospital stays, the former president opted for hospice care at home. In recent years, Carter had been battling an aggressive form of melanoma skin cancer, which had spread to his liver and brain.
