US Shuts Down Pak Journalist’s Query on Pahalgam Attack, Reaffirms Support for India
Washington, DC [US], April 25:
In a pointed exchange during a press briefing, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce refused to address a Pakistani journalist’s question about India-Pakistan border tensions following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Bruce shut down the query, asserting that the US stance on the matter had already been made clear by top leadership.
“I will say nothing more on that situation,” Bruce responded. “The President and the Secretary have already spoken.”
Bruce reiterated that President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Vice President JD Vance had all condemned the Pahalgam terror strike, expressing grief over the loss of lives and pledging support to India’s pursuit of justice.
“The United States stands with India. We strongly condemn all acts of terrorism and pray for the victims and the recovery of the injured,” Bruce said.
Following the attack, President Trump spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offering condolences and full support to bring the perpetrators to justice. Vice President Vance echoed this during a separate call, affirming the US’s readiness to provide assistance in India’s counter-terrorism efforts.
In the wake of the Pahalgam attack, India’s Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met under PM Modi and announced stringent retaliatory measures against Pakistan, including:
Bruce’s firm refusal to entertain Pakistan-centric diversions during the press conference reflects a growing international consensus backing India’s stand on terrorism. Multiple US leaders have denounced the attack, calling for accountability and justice, while diplomatic pressure mounts on Pakistan to curb support for extremist elements.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that these steps are essential to protect Indian lives and sovereignty, stressing that terrorism will not be tolerated.
As the world watches closely, India and its allies are making it clear: terrorism will not be met with silence — but with action, justice, and unity.
