US Vice President JD Vance, Wife Usha to Visit Akshardham Temple; PM Modi to Host State Dinner Amid Key Talks

JD Vance and family to embark on a four-day India visit with stops in Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra; PM Modi to discuss trade and strategic ties during high-level engagement.

New Delhi, April 20, 2025:
United States Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance, who is of Indian origin, will begin their four-day India visit on Monday, with a packed itinerary that includes religious, cultural, and diplomatic engagements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the American dignitary and his family for a formal dinner following bilateral talks centered on trade and strategic collaboration.

The Vance family — including their children Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — is set to land at Delhi’s Palam airbase at 10 AM on April 21. A senior Union Minister will officially welcome the delegation.

Temple Visit and Cultural Stops

Soon after their arrival, the family will visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, one of the largest Hindu temple complexes in the world. They are also expected to stop by a local handicraft market showcasing India’s rich artisanal heritage.

High-Level Talks and Dinner

At 6:30 PM, Vice President Vance will hold discussions with PM Modi. The meeting is expected to revolve around the finalisation of the India-US bilateral trade agreement, discussions on tariffs, and broader issues affecting Indo-US relations.

India’s high-powered delegation for the talks will include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

Post-discussion, PM Modi will host a state dinner for the Vance family and their accompanying US delegation, which reportedly includes senior officials from both the Pentagon and the State Department.

Jaipur and Agra Itinerary

Later that night, the Vances will head to Jaipur, where they will stay at the historic Rambagh Palace. On April 22, they are scheduled to visit landmarks such as the UNESCO-listed Amer Fort, followed by an address at the Rajasthan International Centre, focusing on India-US ties under the Trump administration.

On April 23, the Vice President and family will travel to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and visit Shilpgram, a traditional crafts emporium. The day will conclude with their return to Jaipur, from where they will depart for the US on April 24.

The visit, high on symbolic gestures and strategic significance, underscores the deepening partnership between India and the United States under the new administration in Washington.
