Video- United Airlines Plane Catches Fire During Take-Off, Passengers Scream for Safety

Flames erupted from a wing as the flight was taxiing for departure in Houston; no injuries reported in the alarming incident.

February 3, 2025: Houston: A United Airlines flight bound for New York was evacuated on Sunday after flames erupted from one of its wings while taxiing for take-off at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The incident caused panic among passengers, as captured in a harrowing video that showed passengers pleading for safety.

In the video, one passenger could be heard screaming, “Please, please, please, get us out of here!”

The Houston Fire Department (HFD) immediately deployed its Airport Rescue Firefighters, who assisted in safely evacuating all 104 passengers and five crew members. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
“HFD’s Airport Rescue Firefighters are assisting at @iah after a departing plane reported an issue on the runway. HFD assisted in deboarding the plane. No injuries have been reported at this time,” the department wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities assess the situation.

This is one of several recent aviation emergencies:

  • Philadelphia Plane Crash (Friday Night): A Learjet 55 crashed near Roosevelt Mall, killing all seven on board and injuring 19 others on the ground.
  • Washington Collision (Wednesday): An American Airlines plane collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport, sending both into the Potomac River. Tragically, 67 people are feared dead.
