April 29, 2025: Jagmeet Singh, the leader of Canada’s New Democratic Party (NDP) and a prominent pro-Khalistan figure, has conceded defeat in the federal elections, losing his seat in Burnaby Central and announcing his resignation.
Speaking at his campaign headquarters early Tuesday night, Singh thanked his supporters and family members while congratulating Liberal leader Mark Carney on his victory. Throughout his emotional concession speech, Singh choked back tears multiple times, reflecting on the sacrifices made during his political journey.

“Thank you to everyone who poured their hearts into this campaign. You’re amazing,” Singh said. “I know this is a disappointing night for New Democrats. We had excellent candidates who lost tonight, and I’m so sorry they won’t get the chance to represent their communities.”

Singh, who had held the Burnaby seat since 2019, finished third this election following a redistribution of the riding boundaries, changing it from Burnaby South to Burnaby Central.
