Virat Kohli Becomes Fastest to 27,000 International Runs, Surpassing Sachin Tendulkar

Virat Kohli etched his name in cricket history once again by becoming the fastest player to surpass 27,000 international runs on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Kohli achieved this remarkable milestone in just 594 innings, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 623 innings to reach the same mark.

As Kohli raced to this elusive feat with his signature elegant drives, he joined an elite group of players, including Kumar Sangakkara (648 innings) and Ricky Ponting (650 innings), who previously held the record. Despite looking in fine form, Kohli’s innings ended at 47(35) when he was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan, missing a low delivery.

Kohli now boasts 27,012 international runs, making him the fastest to reach this landmark in cricket history. The day in Kanpur was further highlighted by India’s aggressive batting, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma delivering a quickfire opening stand of 55 runs in just 3.5 overs.

India’s aggressive approach shattered records, including the fastest 100-run mark in Test history for the team, achieved in 10.1 overs, beating the previous best of 12.2 overs set last year against the West Indies.
