Virat Kohli Clarifies Accidental Instagram Like on Avneet Kaur Fan Page
Mumbai, May 3: Star cricketer Virat Kohli became a trending topic on social media after eagle-eyed users noticed that his verified Instagram account had liked a post from a fan page dedicated to actress Avneet Kaur. The unexpected activity led to a flurry of speculation online, prompting Kohli to issue a clarification.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, Kohli addressed the matter directly, denying any intentional engagement with the post. Without naming anyone, he explained that the like was likely a result of the app’s algorithm registering unintended interactions while he was clearing out his feed.
“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding,” read Kohli’s statement.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter is currently enjoying a strong IPL 2025 season. He stands third in the Orange Cap race, having scored 443 runs in 10 innings at an impressive average of 63.28 and a strike rate of nearly 139. Kohli has already racked up six fifties, with a top score of 73*.
RCB sits in second place on the points table with seven wins and three losses. They are set to face the already-eliminated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
