“Vote As Much As Possible..”, Says Yogeshwer Dutt After Casting His Vote

Wrestler and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Yogeshwar Dutt cast his vote during the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, encouraging citizens to exercise their democratic rights.

On Saturday, Yogeshwar Dutt cast his vote at a polling station in Sonipat.

“I have cast my vote in my village and I request people to vote as much as possible and strengthen democracy, play your important role in forming a strong government, vote to take Haryana forward…BJP’s lotus will bloom for the third time in Haryana and Nayab Singh Saini will take oath as CM for the second time…” Yogeshwar Dutt said.

This election is crucial, with the BJP aiming to retain power, while the Congress seeks to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiments, fueled by issues such as the farmer protests and the recent wrestler protests. Other significant parties in the fray include the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and pre-poll alliances like the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party-Azad Samaj Party (JJP-ASP) coalition.

Over 2 crore voters in Haryana, across 90 constituencies, will decide the fate of 1,031 candidates in this high-stakes election. The state has deployed a large security presence, with 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPOs) ensuring smooth polling at 20,632 booths. Results for Haryana, along with Jammu and Kashmir, will be declared on October 8.

The election is also notable for prominent candidates like wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who joined Congress along with fellow Olympian Bajrang Punia. This followed her disqualification from the women’s 50 kg final at the Paris Olympics, signaling her foray into politics.
