“The new company logo symbolizes a fresh start,” said Shitara. “It includes three tuning forks — a core symbol of Yamaha — representing the coordination of production, sales, and technology. It reflects our aim to harmonize these elements to expand globally.”

Founded in 1955 as a spinoff from a musical instrument company, Yamaha Motor was born out of metalworking expertise originally used for crafting instruments. This led to the creation of its first motorbike, the YA-1, a machine built not just for commuting but also to compete in races, igniting Yamaha’s competitive spirit from the start.

“Back then, Nihon Gakki had advanced metal processing technologies. That engineering DNA made the leap from instruments to engines possible,” shared Akito Matsuo of Yamaha.

Today, Yamaha Motor is more than a motorcycle company — it’s a global innovator, embracing cutting-edge technologies and environmental responsibility. Shitara emphasized the brand’s commitment to carbon neutrality and its vision to not just build bikes, but also help shape a sustainable, livable world.

“Our three tuning forks also represent our role in enriching infrastructure and life itself,” Shitara added. “As a leading engineering company, we will continue tackling environmental challenges head-on.”

With seven decades of legacy rooted in Japan and a sharpened focus on the future, Yamaha Motor is ready to face new roads — in style and in harmony.
