"When You Leave...": Virat Kohli Hints at Future Amid Retirement Speculation After Champions Trophy Triumph!
Speaking after India’s record third Champions Trophy title, Kohli acknowledged the young talent and their growing dominance.
🗣️ “When you leave, you want to leave the team in a better place. I feel we’ve a squad that’s ready to take on the world for the next eight years.”
Kohli praised rising stars like:
✅ Shubman Gill for his consistency
✅ Shreyas Iyer for his crucial knocks
✅ KL Rahul for finishing games
✅ Hardik Pandya for his all-round impact
Before the Champions Trophy, Team India had faced a series of setbacks – an ODI series loss to Sri Lanka, a Test series defeat at home to New Zealand, and a Border-Gavaskar Trophy setback against Australia. The team, however, bounced back in style to claim the ICC title.
“It’s been amazing. We wanted to win a big tournament, and to win the Champions Trophy is incredible.”
Kohli credited the team’s unity, adaptability, and experience-sharing for their success.
Kohli also lauded New Zealand, calling them one of the most disciplined and consistent teams in world cricket.

“They’re always in the game. They execute their plans well, support their bowlers, and are the best fielding unit. Credit to them.”
He also expressed sympathy for his long-time friend and rival, Kane Williamson, who ended up on the losing side.
While Kohli and Rohit are yet to formally announce their retirement plans, his words suggest that Indian cricket is entering a new era, with young guns ready to carry the legacy forward.
