White House Announces Largest Deportation Operation Under Trump Administration
Washington DC [US], January 25: The White House has announced the commencement of large-scale deportation operations, with President Donald Trump taking strong action against illegal immigration as promised during his 2024 campaign.
A statement on the White House’s social media read,
“President Trump is sending a strong message to the world: those who enter the United States illegally will face serious consequences.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt provided details, revealing that 538 individuals, including criminals and a suspected terrorist, have been arrested so far. Among those detained are four members of the Tren de Aragua gang and several individuals convicted of sex crimes against minors.
“Deportation flights have begun,” Leavitt shared on social media. “This is the largest deportation operation in history, fulfilling the President’s promise to prioritize the safety and security of American citizens.”
Highlighting the scale of the operation, Leavitt noted that military aircraft have been deployed to expedite deportations. “Hundreds of illegal immigrant criminals have already been deported,” she added, describing the operation as “unprecedented in scope.”
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed its opposition to illegal immigration, pledging to facilitate the return of Indian nationals residing unlawfully abroad. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “For Indian nationals overstaying or residing without proper documentation in the United States or anywhere in the world, we are committed to facilitating their return, provided their nationality is verified.”
Jaiswal also emphasized that illegal immigration is closely linked to organized crime, adding that India stands against such activities globally.
President Trump’s recent actions follow his earlier declaration of a “national emergency” at the southern border with Mexico. While he has expressed support for skilled immigration and the H-1B visa program, the crackdown on undocumented immigrants has raised concerns within the Indian community in the US.
Trump’s executive orders underscore his administration’s dual approach: advocating for skilled labor while maintaining strict border security and immigration enforcement.
As deportations continue, the administration’s immigration policies are likely to remain a point of contention both domestically and internationally.
