Why ‘Save Humanity, Don’t Let RCB Win’ Trending On X?

May 31, 2025: The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have stormed into the IPL 2025 final, marking a historic moment for the franchise and its fans. After a long and agonizing wait of nine years, the Men in Red are set to make their fourth final appearance, hoping to finally lift the elusive IPL trophy. Yet, amid the celebrations and outpouring of joy from the RCB faithful, a bizarre and somewhat humorous trend has taken over social media — #SaveHumanityDon’tLetRCBWin.

This online movement, largely driven by rival fanbases, has taken a curious yet playful jab at the idea of RCB winning the title.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) asked the pressing question, “What’s this ‘Save humanity, don’t let RCB win’ stuff? Lol. Why is there so much obsession with a team that hasn’t won a trophy?” The response? A mix of banter, memes, and some genuine frustration with what many describe as a “toxic” segment of the RCB fanbase.

Why the Hate?

RCB’s fans are widely considered among the most loyal and vocal in the IPL. But with passion sometimes comes intensity, and critics argue that some supporters cross the line. Several rival fans have cited excessive trolling, online abuse, and fan arrogance as the reasons behind the “anti-RCB” movement.

One viral comment read, “Because of the abusive and toxic nature of the fandom.” Another user added, “It’s less about the team and more about the fans who are clowns.” A few even joked that an RCB win would cause “noise pollution” across social media platforms.

Notably, Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi became the target of online trolling recently after a controversial non-striker run-out attempt involving RCB’s Jitesh Sharma, further fueling the sentiment.

The Loyalty Factor

Despite the criticism, many users also came forward to defend the RCB fanbase, calling them “the most loyal in the league.” One comment read, “Their loyalty is on par with elite European football club fanbases.” For many, the RCB journey has been a rollercoaster of hope and heartbreak, and reaching the final once again is a moment of vindication.

So, Why “Save Humanity”?

In classic IPL fashion, the phrase “Save humanity” is less a literal call and more of an ongoing meme meant to poke fun at RCB’s vocal fanbase. It’s all part of the sport’s unique culture where banter, memes, and rivalries are part and parcel of the entertainment.

Whether it’s all in jest or rooted in real frustration, one thing is clear — RCB’s presence in the final has stirred the internet like never before. Win or lose, they’ve already won the social media game this season.
