Will Trump's ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Pass the Senate? Key Vote Underway Amid Criticism and Division
Washington D.C., June 29, 2025:
The US Senate has begun voting on President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and budget legislation, titled the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act, in an unusual Saturday night session, as Trump pushes for a July 4 deadline.

The controversial bill includes $3.8 trillion in tax breaks, significant spending cuts to welfare programs like Medicaid and food stamps, and increased deportation funding. It has drawn sharp reactions from both Democrats and Republicans, with some accusing the administration of railroading the legislation without adequate public scrutiny.

The White House issued full support for the bill, calling it “critical” to Trump’s vision. Trump, meanwhile, was at his Virginia golf course as the Senate began debate.
Despite speculation of delays due to bipartisan tensions, a vote is expected soon, followed by the bill’s return to the House of Representatives for final passage.
The Senate faces all-night deliberations, with amendments likely. If passed, the bill will mark one of the most dramatic overhauls of US economic policy in recent decades—just in time for Trump’s patriotic July 4 reveal.
