Wrestling Champion Vinesh Phogat Makes Remarkable Entry Into Politics By Winning Haryana Assembly Elections
Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat has made a significant impact in Haryana politics by winning the Julana Assembly constituency, defeating BJP’s Yogesh Kumar by a margin of 5,761 votes, as confirmed by the Election Commission of India.
This victory is particularly noteworthy as it marks the Congress party’s first win in this seat in 19 years.
Phogat, an accomplished wrestler, received a total of 65,080 votes, showcasing her strong support in the constituency.
Congress leader and wrestler Bajrang Punia who joined the Congress along with Punia only days prior to the Haryana Assembly elections took to social media to congratulate Vinesh.
“Many congratulations to the country’s daughter Vinesh Phogat for her victory. This fight was not just for one Julana seat, it was not just with 3-4 other candidates, it was not just a fight between parties. This fight was against the strongest oppressive forces in the country. And Vinesh emerged victorious,” Bajrang Punia wrote on X.
In addition to the electoral success, there were concerns raised by Congress about discrepancies in the vote count reported by the Election Commission, alleging that the data was not being updated in a timely manner. Senior Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, expressed their apprehensions regarding the electoral process, echoing sentiments that the BJP might be attempting to exert pressure on local administration through delayed updates .
