In a major cross-border wrestling milestone, WWE has officially acquired Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) — one of Mexico’s most iconic wrestling promotions — from Mexican holding company Fillip. The announcement was made during the WrestleMania 41 countdown show, marking a historic moment for the global wrestling landscape.
The deal is expected to close in Q3 2025, pending customary regulatory approvals. AAA will continue to be jointly operated by WWE, Fillip, and the founding Peña family, ensuring its legacy remains intact.

The two promotions will co-host a massive joint show titled Worlds Collide on June 7, 2025, at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles — a city rich in both American and Mexican wrestling traditions.

Founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña, AAA has been at the forefront of lucha libre culture for over three decades. The promotion has produced and hosted legends like Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, Pentagón Jr. (Penta), and Fénix.
