Ahead of the box office face-off between Kannada superstar Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 on March 19, fans are revisiting old interviews where the stars praised each other’s work.
In a 2018 interview with ETV Bharat, Yash named Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan as his favourite Bollywood actors. Speaking about younger actors, he said, “Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh — they are both very good. I didn’t like Ranveer Singh’s work initially, but now he looks very good. I started liking him from Bajirao Mastani, and in Padmaavat, he was stunning. He did an amazing job.” Yash also praised Ranbir Kapoor for his performance in Sanju.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has spoken highly of Yash’s work. In a 2022 interview with Film Companion, he revealed that he had cheered for Yash while watching KGF alone in bed, saying, “I love that cinema. It’s my first love.”
Years later, both actors are now set for a major box office clash. Toxic’s teaser has drawn mixed reactions online, with some praising its “Hollywood-style” visuals, while others compared it unfavourably to previous Indian films. Some sections of fans predict that Dhurandhar 2 may outperform Toxic, though the final outcome remains uncertain.
