India A to face England Lions in two red-ball games ahead of a final match against the senior Indian team; Gill and Sudharsan to join from second match.
May 17, 2025: New Delhi:
The BCCI on Friday announced a strong India A squad for the upcoming tour of England, with Abhimanyu Easwaran appointed as captain and Dhruv Jurel named his deputy. The 18-member squad features experienced campaigners like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, and Ishan Kishan, alongside emerging stars such as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, and Manav Suthar.

The team will play two first-class matches against the England Lions at Canterbury (May 30) and Northampton (June 6), culminating in a fixture against the Indian senior team.
Key Highlights:
- Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad from the second match.
- Karun Nair, remembered for his triple century against England in 2016, returns after a stellar domestic season with 863 Ranji runs and a successful County stint.
- Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sarfaraz Khan, both returning from injuries, are also named.
- Harsh Dubey, the leading wicket-taker and Player of the Tournament in Ranji 2024–25, is one of several uncapped players earning a call-up.
The tour is expected to serve as a litmus test for India’s next-generation red-ball cricketers, especially in the wake of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s retirements from the longest format. The performances of players like Nair, Easwaran, and Sarfaraz will be closely tracked by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee.
