As SRH ends its IPL 2025 run, Abhishek’s father credits Yuvraj for his son’s standout performance amid a challenging season for the team.

New Delhi [India], May 26 – As Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wrap up their IPL 2025 campaign, Abhishek Sharma’s father, Raj Kumar Sharma, has singled out Yuvraj Singh’s mentorship as a crucial factor in his son’s continued success.

“Yuvraj Singh has played a major role in Abhishek’s success,” Raj Kumar said. “He has worked really hard on him, and Abhishek has also put in the effort. I’m very proud of my son—his hard work is taking him forward. This game is all about performance, and those who perform, move ahead.”

Though SRH fell short of the playoffs this season, Abhishek was a beacon of consistency and aggression. He joined an elite list by becoming the only batter to score over 400 runs in back-to-back IPL seasons, both times maintaining a strike rate of over 180.

Abhishek reached this milestone during his innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 68th match of the tournament at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday.

Reflecting on SRH’s mixed season, Raj Kumar added, “SRH is a very good team… but I don’t know why they couldn’t win more matches this year. When the IPL started, we thought they would perform well. It’s okay—next year, they’ll come with better preparation and fix the things that lacked.”

In that match, SRH posted a formidable 278/3, the third-highest total in IPL history, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen’s blistering 105 off 39 balls—the fastest century of IPL 2025—and a powerful fifty from Travis Head. Klaasen was named player of the match for his innings, which included seven fours and nine sixes.

KKR’s chase fell apart against SRH’s disciplined bowling attack, with Jaydev Unadkat, Eshan Malinga, and Harsh Dubey each claiming three wickets to seal a 110-run win for Hyderabad.

As SRH looks to regroup for next season, Abhishek Sharma’s form—alongside Yuvraj Singh’s ongoing mentorship—remains a bright spot for the franchise and a source of pride for his family.
