Zimbabwe Set To Host South Africa And New Zealand For Test Series And T20I Tri-Series In 2025

March 27, 2025: Zimbabwe is set to host South Africa and New Zealand for a highly anticipated international home season spanning from June 28 to August 11, 2025.

The series will feature both a two-Test series and an exciting T20I triangular competition, marking a significant event for Zimbabwean cricket.

The Test series will kick off with South Africa visiting Bulawayo on June 28 and July 6. This will be Zimbabwe’s first Test encounter with South Africa since December 2017, and the first time South Africa will play in Zimbabwe since August 2014. Following this, a T20I triangular series will take place in Harare from July 14 to July 24. The league phase will see each team compete twice, and the top two teams will face off in the final on July 26. This marks Zimbabwe’s return to hosting major international T20I series since the 2018 tri-nation series, where Pakistan emerged victorious.

The action continues with New Zealand’s Test tour of Zimbabwe, also scheduled in Bulawayo, on July 30 and August 7. The Kiwis last visited Zimbabwe for a Test series in 2016.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed his excitement about the season, describing it as the “biggest international home season” Zimbabwe has had in years. He highlighted the tremendous opportunity this series provides for Zimbabwean players to compete against two of the world’s top cricketing nations, which will not only help the players gain invaluable experience but also boost the popularity and development of cricket in the country.

“This is the biggest international home season we have had in years, and it is an incredible opportunity for our players to test themselves against two of the world’s cricketing powerhouses. Hosting South Africa and New Zealand for both Test cricket and an exciting T20I tri-series is a fantastic development for the growth of the game in Zimbabwe,” said Makoni.

The series is expected to draw significant attention and provide a major platform for Zimbabwean cricket as they look to make a mark on the international stage once again.
