Cities to Sink into the Sea: ‘New Baba Vanga's’ Chilling Prediction
June 26, 2025: A chilling prediction by Japanese manga artist and self-proclaimed clairvoyant Ryo Tatsuki has gone viral, creating a wave of panic just days before the alleged disaster date of July 5, 2025. Known for her cryptic visions and apocalyptic forecasts, Tatsuki is now being hailed by many as the “New Baba Vanga” — and her latest prophecy is shaking nerves from Tokyo to Taipei.

In her 1999 self-published book The Future I Saw, Tatsuki claims to have foreseen a massive catastrophe that would cause Japan to sink into the sea. The imagery she describes is haunting — boiling oceans, underwater explosions, and towering waves — leading many to speculate whether she’s predicting a volcanic eruption or mega-tsunami. Some say it could be worse than the devastating Tohoku earthquake and tsunami of 2011.
With July 5 fast approaching, fear is intensifying.
Tourists aren’t taking any chances. Travel agencies report an 83% drop in bookings from Hong Kong to Japan for early July. Airlines confirm a surge in cancellations, as apprehensive travellers opt out of their vacations, citing mental stress and anxiety.
“Even if it’s not true, I’d rather be safe than sorry,” said one tourist from Taipei who canceled a family trip to Tokyo.
In response to the viral frenzy, officials are urging the public to stay calm. Yoshihiro Murai, Governor of Miyagi Prefecture, addressed the rumors directly:
“There is no official warning. We ask people not to act on baseless speculation.”
Tourism officials hope the fallout will be short-lived, but admit the psychological effect of such predictions is hard to counter.
Tatsuki’s eerie accuracy in past predictions has contributed to her growing cult following. She claims to have foretold:
Her growing influence has earned her the comparison to Baba Vanga, the blind Bulgarian mystic whose alleged prophecies still spark global debates.
Ryo Tatsuki is a reclusive Japanese manga artist and clairvoyant, best known for her book The Future I Saw. Unlike many self-proclaimed psychics, she presents her visions in graphic novel format, combining illustrations with stark narrative — giving her forecasts a surreal, unsettling edge.
While scientists and authorities have not indicated any imminent geological threats, the power of viral prophecy is already impacting lives and economies. Whether Tatsuki’s prediction comes true or not, her words have reignited debate on the psychological weight of prophecy in a hyper-connected digital age.
