German Vlogger Stunned by India’s Metro, Calls It Better Than Most of Western Europe

Alex Welder praises Delhi and Agra metro systems for their modern amenities, cleanliness, and efficiency—comparing them favorably to transport systems in Europe and East Asia.

March 31, 2025: New Delhi — In a viral video that’s sparked conversation across platforms, popular German vlogger Alex Welder has heaped praise on India’s metro infrastructure, describing it as “better than most of Western Europe.”

Welder, who boasts over 70,000 Instagram followers, shared his experience of using metro systems in cities like Delhi and Agra, expressing admiration for their cleanliness, efficiency, and modern design.

“Before coming to India, I thought I’d see crumbling buses and noisy rickshaws everywhere. But what I found shocked me—in a good way,” said Welder in the video that has now crossed 3.8 million views.

He highlighted features of the Delhi Metro that are on par with some of the world’s most advanced transit systems—platform screen doors, USB charging ports, designated seating for women and elderly, and more.

“These are things I’ve seen in Japan, South Korea, and China—but I honestly didn’t expect to see them in India,” he added.

Welder noted that staying in South Delhi helped him avoid overcrowded routes, and he often found seats as long as he stayed clear of rush hour and tourist hubs.

Indian netizens quickly chimed in to support Welder’s observations, with many pointing out how global media often underrepresents India’s urban development.

“Delhi Metro is miles ahead of the London Tube,” one user commented.

Another added, “No addicts, no mess, no rats. Just clean, organized, and effective travel. India deserves more credit.”

Welder also expressed surprise that more international vloggers haven’t highlighted this side of India, calling it “one of the most overlooked urban infrastructure stories in the world.”
