Live India Travel-Exploring the Charm of Kesroli Hill Fort: A Luxurious Heritage Getaway-Watch

October 18, 2024: As a traveler, I always strive to fully immerse myself in the experience of every place I visit, understanding the story behind it and why it was built.

Over the years, I’ve explored several properties from the Neemrana chain and am continually drawn back due to their “non-hotel” approach. Each property preserves the essence of the historical location, and Hill Fort Kesroli is a personal favourite for a luxurious heritage getaway.

One of the oldest heritage sites in India where one can stay, the best time to visit this stunning fort is during the onset of winter when the weather is ideal, with warm, welcoming sunlight. Although winter is equally lovely, I recommend planning your trip around this pleasant period for a more comfortable experience.

Hill Fort Kesroli is a luxurious retreat where each room is named a ‘Mahal’ (palace). Since I was traveling with my family, we chose the Sugni Mahal, a unique duplex with a spacious lower room accessed by a discreet stairway—charming and perfect for families!

The Kesroli fort itself is the primary destination. Whether it’s the impeccable service, the palace atmosphere, or the breathtaking views, there’s no shortage of relaxation here. Picture yourself basking in the sun, sipping your favourite drink, and indulging in delicious meals.

The atmosphere is welcoming, a mix of foreign tourists and fellow vacationers you’ll find yourself chatting with in no time.

Evenings at the Kesroli Hill Fort are truly magical. The cultural nights, paired with a lavish buffet, make for an unforgettable experience.

You can enjoy traditional music and dance, participating in the festivities while sipping a drink. As for the food, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the spread is hearty, flavourful, and worthy of indulgence.

The cultural activity offers a truly immersive experience, and the dinner is nothing short of a grand celebration. Watch our video for a glimpse of the atmosphere and to experience it firsthand!

One thing to note: the Kesroli Hill Fort offers a delightful digital detox. There are no televisions in the rooms, and phone signals are weak, encouraging you to unwind and engage in activities like badminton, table tennis, chess, and more. There’s even the option of a relaxing massage or a couples’ massage to rejuvenate the body and soul. You can also opt for nature and agri-walks in and around the area. I personally took up table tennis and enjoyed learning from my son.

The ambiance, along with top-notch service, transports you back to a simpler time—a break from the modern rush of life that we all need once in a while. So next time you’re planning a getaway, make sure to search for Kesroli Hill Fort.

Places to Explore Near Kesroli:

Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary:

Just an hour from the Hill Fort, Sariska is a must-visit for nature lovers. The sanctuary is spread across over 800 square kilometers of mountains, grasslands, forests, and cliffs. While we didn’t spot any tigers, we were lucky to see sambhar, chital, crocodiles, and monkeys. The safari experience is unforgettable, but if you’re planning a trip during peak season, be sure to book in advance!

Siliserh Palace:

Built in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh for Queen Shila, this former royal hunting lodge is now a tourist bungalow. Although the palace’s location offers stunning views and a refreshing breeze from the lake, the palace is unfortunately underwhelming due to its poor maintenance and a significant monkey problem. The lack of strategy to develop its potential further adds to the disappointment, making it a missed opportunity in an otherwise beautiful location.
