Thailand Launches ‘Half-Price Thailand Travel’ Scheme, Registration Begins From Today!

June 25, 2025: The Thai government is set to boost its tourism sector with the launch of the “Half-Price Thailand Travel” scheme, opening for public registration starting June 25. This move follows the Cabinet’s approval of a 1.76 billion baht budget dedicated to this economic stimulus initiative, which is projected to inject over 35 billion baht into the national economy.

Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong confirmed that the Cabinet has endorsed a comprehensive economic stimulus package totaling 115.375 billion baht. Of this, 10.053 billion baht is specifically allocated for tourism-related activities, distributed across various agencies including the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Department of Tourism, Sports Authority of Thailand, Royal Thai Police, and other cultural bodies.

“The Tourism Authority of Thailand received 1.76 billion baht for this initiative,” Minister Sorawong explained. “We have already opened registration for tourism operators, and public registration for the entitlements will begin from the evening of June 24.”

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool provided further details, confirming that individuals can register from June 25 to access the scheme. The program will be valid for travel from July 1 to October 2025 and offers a total of 500,000 entitlements.

Each registrant will receive five entitlements—three for use in major cities and two for select secondary cities. For accommodation booked Monday through Friday, the government will subsidize 50% of the cost, capped at 3,000 baht. On weekends and public holidays, the subsidy will cover 40% of accommodation costs, also up to 3,000 baht. Additionally, each entitlement includes a 500 baht coupon redeemable at participating restaurants and for tourism activities under the program.

The scheme aims to attract at least 100,000 tourists, generating approximately 14.125 billion baht in tourism sector revenue. Officials expect overall tourist trips during the July–October period to rise from 66.63 million to 69.3 million, an increase of 2.67 million trips.

This surge is forecasted to create more than 40,669 new jobs and generate over 1.863 billion baht in tax revenue, contributing to a total economic impact exceeding 35 billion baht.
