Seeking absolute seclusion to narrate this profound truth, Shiva discarded all his belongings and divine companions, including Nandi the bull, the moon, the river Ganga, and even the five elements. However, unbeknownst to him, a pair of pigeons had been quietly listening to the secret.

When Shiva realized that these pigeons had overheard the Amar Katha, he chose not to curse them. Instead, he blessed them with immortality. Since then, legend has it that this very pair of pigeons appears every year inside the cave during the pilgrimage season.

The sight of these birds is considered nothing short of miraculous—given the cave’s extreme altitude, freezing temperatures, and conditions inhospitable for most living creatures.
