Australian Woman Spends ₹6.6 Lakh on Cosmetic Surgeries to Look Like a Cat! Now Regrets it

Jolene Dawson, 29, who underwent experimental procedures as a publicity stunt, now warns against chasing viral fame through risky cosmetic treatments.

A 29-year-old woman from Australia’s Gold Coast who spent nearly AUD 12,000 (approximately ₹6.6 lakh) on cosmetic procedures to look like a cat now says she deeply regrets the decision, calling it a “publicity stunt gone wrong.”

Jolene Dawson underwent a series of experimental cosmetic treatments aimed at sharpening her cheekbones and flaring her nostrils. Initially believing the alterations were reversible, Dawson found herself suffering painful and lasting side effects.

Speaking to What’s The Jam, Dawson said her body began “rejecting” the fillers over time, causing unpredictable migration across her face. A barbed threading procedure left her in such severe pain that she tried to remove the threads herself, resulting in scars and lesions.

“This was always intended to be a publicity stunt, and I stuck with reversible options because I knew I wouldn’t want to look like a cat forever,” Dawson explained. “However, I could have never predicted how my body would react and how drastically my face would change.”

Clarifying rumors, Dawson emphasized she never identified as a cat, admitting, “Honestly, I did it for attention.”

Her clout-chasing spiraled, leading to serious complications, including extreme acid reflux caused by filler migration into her nasal cavity.

Having now removed all fillers and implants, Dawson said she is “hopeful she is on her way back to health.” She has also begun therapy to address her “need for validation through public attention.”

“I’m well aware of how dumb this was,” Dawson admitted. “I’ve been in a lot of pain because of it. I want to warn everyone: never get experimental procedures and never undergo surgeries for the wrong reasons.”
