Dead in October 2024, Pakistani Actor Humaira Asghar Lay Dead in Karachi Flat for 9 Months Before Discovery
Karachi, July 11, 2025 – In a deeply disturbing and tragic development, Pakistani television and film actor Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her Karachi apartment—nine months after she had passed away. Her highly decomposed body was discovered this week after her landlord filed a complaint about unpaid rent.
Authorities revealed that the actor had been dead since October 2024, but no one noticed her absence for nearly a year. Investigators believe her death went unnoticed due to prolonged isolation, an unoccupied building floor, and minimal social interactions.
Police arrived at the apartment after the landlord raised concerns about rent default and found the body in an advanced state of decomposition. A balcony door had been left ajar, and there were no signs of electricity, candles, or backup power, suggesting she had been living without utilities for weeks before her death.
According to Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, initial autopsy reports suggested the body had been decomposing for at least a month. However, further investigation using call records (CDR) and other evidence confirmed her last phone activity dated back to October 2024.

Neighbours had not seen her since September-October 2024, and with her floor unoccupied, no one suspected anything unusual. Her social media activity also ceased abruptly in September 2024, further pointing to her isolation.
Earlier reports indicated that Humaira’s family had not come forward to claim her remains. However, her brother Naveed Asghar later arrived in Karachi, where a DNA test confirmed her identity due to the unrecognizable state of the body.
He revealed that Humaira had moved to Karachi from Lahore around seven years ago and had gradually distanced herself from the family. Her visits became infrequent, and she hadn’t returned home for over a year and a half. He stated that their father had instructed the authorities to bury her in Karachi in case of an emergency, hence the family’s delayed response.
Naveed also questioned why the landlord’s role hadn’t been investigated more thoroughly, pointing out that more answers may lie in that direction.
Humaira began her acting journey in 2015, making appearances in Pakistani dramas like Just Married, Ehsaan Faramosh, Guru, and Chal Dil Mere. She starred in the 2015 film Jalaibee and later in Love Vaccine (2021).
In 2022, she gained further fame through the reality show Tamasha Ghar on ARY Digital. In 2023, she was honored with the Best Emerging Talent & Rising Star Award at the National Woman Leadership Awards.
This haunting discovery has triggered discussions across Pakistan about mental health, loneliness, and the entertainment industry’s treatment of fading stars. It also raises questions about negligence and societal isolation, especially for those living alone.
