Elon Musk’s Love Life: Divorces, Children, and Controversy — A Full Timeline
April 5, 2025: Elon Musk may dominate headlines for his tech ventures and political affiliations, but his personal life—especially his relationships and growing brood of children—has been just as compelling.
From his early days with Canadian author Justine Wilson to his tumultuous romance with Grimes, Musk’s love life has been a topic of constant speculation and intrigue. With three marriages, multiple high-profile partners, and 14 children (that we know of), the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s personal story is anything but ordinary.
Musk’s first marriage was to Justine Wilson, whom he met at Queen’s University in Canada. They married in 2000 and had six children together, including twins and triplets. Tragically, their first child, Nevada, passed away from SIDS at just 10 weeks old. The couple divorced in 2008, and Justine has since spoken candidly about their “dream lifestyle” and its unraveling.
Next came Musk’s on-again, off-again marriage to actress Talulah Riley, whom he wed in 2010. They divorced in 2012, remarried in 2013, and finally parted ways in 2016. Despite the rocky relationship, Riley later said she “loved/love[d] the guy” and remembered all her weddings fondly.
Perhaps Musk’s most famous relationship was with musician Grimes (Claire Boucher). Though they never married, the couple share three children—X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and a third son whose birth was revealed in 2023. Their relationship has been marked by highs, lows, and legal disputes, with Grimes filing for parental rights in late 2023.

Despite their separation, Grimes has chosen to keep things civil for the sake of their children—even as Musk faces backlash for his political affiliations, including a controversial salute at Trump’s inauguration. “I am not him,” she tweeted, emphasizing her priority as a mother over public commentary.
Musk has publicly supported the “pro-natalist” movement, which promotes having large families to counteract population decline. To date, he has fathered 14 children by at least four women, including Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, with whom he shares twins.
In 2024, influencer Ashley St. Clair claimed Musk fathered her child, a claim Musk didn’t outright deny but questioned paternity and claimed minimal child support was due.
One of Musk’s most vocal critics is his own daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, formerly known as Xavier. She came out as transgender in 2022, legally changed her name, and severed ties with Musk. She has accused him of being an absent and narcissistic parent, saying he was “very quick to anger.” Musk, in turn, has said she was “killed by the woke mind virus.”
While Musk’s romantic future remains unclear, his current connection with Shivon Zilis continues to raise eyebrows—especially after she was seen with him at Trump’s 2025 inauguration. Despite the speculation, Musk has made no official announcement about a new relationship.
As Elon Musk continues to influence tech, politics, and social media, his love life—and family tree—remains one of the most watched sagas in pop culture.
