He Lothes Her! Prince William Plans to Strip Meghan Markle of HRH Title Once King: Report

The future monarch is reportedly prepared to take decisive action against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over their continued use of royal titles.

April 30, 2025: Prince William reportedly plans to revoke Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “His/Her Royal Highness” (HRH) titles when he ascends the British throne, as per a new report by The Daily Beast. The move is said to be driven by deep personal resentment and concern over the couple’s alleged misuse of royal status for branding purposes.

An insider cited by the report claimed the Prince of Wales is outraged by Meghan’s continued use of the HRH designation, particularly in her new lifestyle venture As Ever, which includes products like a “homemade strawberry sauce.” The controversy intensified after Markle sent a gift basket to a podcast host, signed, “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”

“Charles might be happy to put up with this, but William won’t,” the source said. “He loathes and despises Harry and Meghan with every bone in his body… the idea that they are using their royal status as a calling card will enrage him.”

Though the couple retained their HRH titles after stepping down from royal duties in 2020, they were expected not to use them in any capacity—public or private. While Meghan’s team insists the gift was a “personal gesture,” royal insiders claim any use of the titles breaches the understanding established with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

A former royal courtier dismissed Meghan’s defense as “rubbish,” adding, “The terms made it clear they had agreed not to use the HRH titles at all, ever, in any capacity.”

The Sussexes stepped away from their royal roles and relocated to California in 2020, raising their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in Montecito. Since then, they’ve launched multiple ventures, including Meghan’s lifestyle brand and Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which has already been renewed for a second season.

A close friend of Prince William told the Daily Beast that removing the titles would be inevitable under his reign.

“Meghan using her HRH exposes how weak and enfeebled [King Charles] is… There is no way King William will stand for this. The titles will simply be removed when he is king. A way will be found.”

As of now, representatives for Kensington Palace and the Sussexes have not commented.
