India shattered multiple T20I records during the fifth and final match of the series against England at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. The highlight of the game was Abhishek Sharma’s record-breaking century, which came off just 37 balls. His blistering knock helped India register their highest-ever powerplay score in T20Is—95 runs for the loss of one wicket.

Record-Breaking Performance

Abhishek’s explosive batting began right from the start. He smashed his half-century in just 17 balls, continuing to dominate the English bowlers throughout the powerplay. By the end of the six overs, he had scored 58 off 21 balls, supported by quick contributions from Tilak Varma (19 off 8) and Sanju Samson (16 off 7). India reached the 100-run mark in just 6.3 overs, setting a new benchmark for their fastest century in T20I history.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl, making one change to the playing XI by bringing in Mark Wood for Saqib Mahmood. India also made a strategic adjustment, with Mohammed Shami replacing Arshdeep Singh. Despite England’s bowling efforts, India’s top order remained relentless.

During the toss, Buttler commented on England’s performance:
“We played some good cricket in patches but need to capitalize on crucial moments. It’s a high-energy game and a great venue tonight.”

Meanwhile, India captain Suryakumar Yadav expressed confidence in his team’s approach:
