Indonesia Delegation Preforms on ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ at Presidential Banquet-Watch

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to India highlights cultural bonds through Bollywood melodies.

January 26, 2025: In a warm gesture of cultural diplomacy, an Indonesian delegation performed the iconic Bollywood song Kuch Kuch Hota Hai during a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday. The event, organized to honor Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on his first state visit to India, saw senior Indonesian ministers participating.

The performance of the title track from the 1998 Bollywood blockbuster, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, symbolized the deep cultural ties between India and Indonesia. The song, composed by Jatin-Lalit and performed by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, remains a beloved classic, resonating with audiences globally.

President Subianto, who is the Chief Guest for India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations, is accompanied by a 190-member ensemble band, Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta, from the Indonesian Military Academy. This group is set to perform at Kartavya Path, blending military precision with cultural pride.

Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Subianto at Hyderabad House in Delhi. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a focus on key sectors such as defense, maritime cooperation, economic growth, and fostering deeper people-to-people connections.

The celebration of shared cultural heritage and strategic collaboration underscores the evolving relationship between the two nations.
