Iran Israel War Update: Trump Confirms ‘Total Obliteration’ of Iran’s Nuclear Sites in Surprise Strike

June 22, 2025: Iran Israel War- In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday confirmed that American forces carried out precision airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear facilities — Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan — marking a turning point in the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran.

In a televised statement, Trump called the strikes a “very successful attack,” claiming that Iran’s nuclear enrichment infrastructure had been “completely and totally obliterated.” He warned Iran that if they “don’t make peace now,” future U.S. actions would be “far greater.”

The Fordo site, buried deep underground and believed to be one of Iran’s most fortified nuclear facilities, was among the targets. U.S. B-2 bombers reportedly deployed GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs — also known as “bunker busters” — in the strike.

Iran Condemns Attack, Signals Retaliation

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi swiftly condemned the strikes, calling them a “grave violation” of the UN Charter and international law. In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Araghchi stated:

“The United States… has committed a grave violation of the UN Charter, international law, and the NPT by attacking Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations… Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interests, and people.”

He urged global powers to respond to what he described as “lawless and criminal behavior.”

Diplomacy Falters as Conflict Widens

The attack comes just two days after Trump claimed to have opened a two-week window for diplomacy. Meanwhile, efforts to de-escalate the broader Israel-Iran conflict showed little progress. A high-level meeting between Iranian and European officials in Geneva on Friday ended without resolution, despite growing international concern.

The situation remains volatile, with fears that Iran may retaliate, potentially targeting U.S. assets in the region or blocking the Strait of Hormuz — a key artery for global oil shipments.
