After a harrowing medical journey and weeks in the NICU, Little Mix star Jesy Nelson announces that her premature twin daughters — Ocean and Story — are finally home, just in time for her 34th birthday.
Jesy Nelson’s journey into motherhood took an emotional and triumphant turn as the Little Mix alum shared on June 14 that her twin daughters — Ocean and Story — are finally home after spending weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The twins, born prematurely at 31 weeks on May 15, arrived home just in time to celebrate Nelson’s 34th birthday, marking a heartwarming milestone after a high-risk pregnancy and a series of medical complications.
After months of uncertainty and strength, singer Jesy Nelson is finally home with her newborn twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe. The singer and former Little Mix member announced the emotional homecoming on Instagram, posting a heartfelt black-and-white photo of herself gazing lovingly at her daughters. “My babies made it home for my birthday 🥹🤍,” Nelson wrote on June 14, marking a birthday she’ll never forget.
Nelson and her partner, musician Zion Foster, welcomed the twins on May 15 — nearly two months ahead of their due date — after a complicated pregnancy. The babies were diagnosed with a rare and risky condition called monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA), meaning they shared a single placenta, increasing the risk of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a complication where one twin receives more blood supply than the other.
Back in March, Nelson shared her fears in an emotional video, revealing the danger the condition posed: “One baby might take all the nutrients … which — really awful to say — could lead to both babies dying.” As symptoms progressed, including stomach tightening and difficulty breathing, she was hospitalized and underwent an emergency procedure to improve the babies’ chances of survival.
From her hospital bed in April, Nelson shared, “We are another week further along and we feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong.”
On May 18, the couple formally introduced their daughters to the world. “So … Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love 🥹,” they wrote. The couple also revealed their names: Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.
Though overjoyed, the days following their birth were emotionally intense as the twins remained in the NICU. On May 25, Nelson penned a powerful note about the experience: “Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU,” she said. “It’s the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies.”
Still, hope endured. “Slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream,” Nelson continued, celebrating the moment when her daughters were reunited for the first time. “The strongest little girls I’ve ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell 🤍.”
With their release from the hospital, Jesy Nelson’s birthday turned into a celebration of survival, strength, and love.
