Luxury brand Coperni’s latest design—half jeans, half shorts—has divided opinions online, with some calling it avant-garde and others labeling it “the dumbest thing ever.”
March 9, 2025: The fashion world is no stranger to unconventional trends, but Coperni’s latest creation—one-legged jeans priced at a staggering ₹38,345 ($440)—has left the internet divided.
Marketed by the French luxury label Coperni, the unique design merges a high-waisted beachy shorts style with a single-leg bootcut silhouette, making it a radical departure from traditional denim wear.
“Designed by pushing the boundaries of classic Coperni denim styles to new dimensions,” reads the brand’s product description.
Fashion Influencers & Experts Weigh In
Fashion influencer Kristy Sarah tried on the jeans for her followers and found herself unexpectedly intrigued. “I’m not mad at it,” she said, although she admitted she would prefer a longer version. Her husband, however, was less impressed, immediately questioning, “Why is it missing a leg?”

Meanwhile, Emmy-winning stylist Carson Kressley (known for RuPaul’s Drag Race and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) quipped:
“Let’s hope this trend falls short and doesn’t have a leg to stand on.”
He also joked, “I hope these are always 50 percent off!”
Social Media Reacts
As the viral video of the jeans spread across platforms, opinions poured in:
💬 “This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.”
💬 “The designers are getting desperate. And I thought the electrical tape outfits were the worst.”
💬 “There may be an amputee market for these.”
Despite the backlash, the one-legged jeans have sold out on Coperni’s website, proving that controversy can still drive sales in the fashion world.

Luxury Brands Experimenting with Quirky Fashion
Interestingly, Coperni isn’t the first luxury brand to experiment with half-and-half trousers. Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton showcased similar styles last fall. While the design has received criticism, its sold-out status suggests a niche audience is embracing the trend.
Would you wear one-legged jeans, or do you think fashion has taken a bizarre turn?
