Raksha Bandhan 2025: Real Date, Shubh Muhurat & Everything You Need to Know!
June 21, 2025: One of India’s most cherished festivals, Raksha Bandhan, will be celebrated this year on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The sacred festival honors the unique bond between brothers and sisters, symbolized through the tying of a rakhi, a protective thread, by sisters on their brothers’ wrists.
According to the Hindu calendar, the auspicious time (shubh muhurat) for tying the rakhi will begin at 5:47 AM and continue until 1:24 PM on the same day. Performing the ritual during this time is believed to bring blessings, protection, and prosperity.
Raksha Bandhan, which falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Shravana, is more than just a traditional ritual—it’s a celebration of love, duty, and mutual respect. On this day, families come together to celebrate sibling bonds with gifts, sweets, and heartfelt gestures.
In many households, the festival also includes prayers, tilak ceremonies, and the exchange of wishes for one another’s health and happiness. Over the years, Raksha Bandhan has also grown to symbolize broader expressions of love and protection, extending beyond siblings to include cousins, friends, and even members of the armed forces.
With August 9 falling on a Saturday this year, families are expected to take full advantage of the weekend holiday to gather and celebrate the occasion in a more relaxed and joyous manner.
