Renowned Turkish Singer Volkan Konak Dies After Collapsing Onstage During Cyprus Concert

The beloved ‘Son of the North’ passed away despite 65 minutes of intense medical efforts after collapsing mid-performance; tributes pour in from fans and leaders.

March 31, 2025: Volkan Konak, one of Turkey’s most beloved musical icons, tragically passed away after collapsing onstage during a live concert in Cyprus. He was 57.

The emotional news was confirmed in the early hours of March 31, after Konak fell unconscious mid-performance. Despite receiving immediate medical attention and prolonged resuscitation efforts, he was declared dead at Famagusta State Hospital at 12:42 am.

According to a report by Kıbrıs Genç TV, Konak collapsed around 11:23 pm during his show at a hotel venue. Emergency teams were dispatched to the scene promptly, where CPR was initiated. He was intubated and rushed to the hospital by 12:10 am.

The hospital later released a statement:

“CPR was performed for 40 minutes at the concert venue and continued for another 25 minutes at our facility. Despite all advanced life support measures, Volkan Konak did not respond and was declared dead at 12:42 am.”

Known as the ‘Son of the North’, Konak was famous for his powerful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and the spirit of the Black Sea he infused into every performance. He was more than an artist — he was a cultural symbol in Turkey.

Ankara’s Mayor Mansur Yavas paid tribute on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

“His powerful voice that shook our hearts, his songs that carried the rebellious winds of the Black Sea, will now live on in our memories… We will never forget you.”

Konak’s music and presence deeply resonated across generations. His sudden demise has left fans and the music world in mourning.
