Authorities say the murder likely occurred around midnight on June 17, and the crime scene was described as “confronting” by first responders. Police discovered Mr. Story’s dismembered remains while investigating a report of smoke from the residence. His head has not yet been found, and police have launched an appeal for public assistance.
“Julian’s head had been removed during the dismemberment… despite extensive searches, has not yet been located,” said South Australia Police.
Chesser was reportedly found in a catatonic state in the backyard and was taken into custody under a mental health detention order. Police noted that she was compliant during the arrest, and no clear motive has emerged so far.

A surveillance video released by authorities shows a woman believed to be Chesser leaving the apartment around the time of the murder, dressed in black and walking with three dogs. A witness also described Chesser as appearing calm and locking the door before going for a walk.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said recovering the missing head is crucial for bringing closure to the victim’s family:
“Recovering Julian’s head… so they can have a funeral and lay him to rest is a really important aspect for us.”
Chesser rose to fame as the runner-up on Beauty and the Geek in 2010 and later posed for men’s magazines such as Playboy, Ralph, and FHM. She remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court again in December.
Meanwhile, Mr. Story’s grieving family issued a statement thanking law enforcement and the community:
“We are navigating an unimaginable loss… your prayers, presence, and quiet strength mean more than words can say.”
